Another Successful Year of Art With Heart

Close to 700 people packed CenterStage@NoDa on Saturday to celebrate the ninth annual Art With Heart auction.
WCNC 6 news anchors Colleen Odegaard and Jeff Campbell co-hosted the event, which featured more than 250 pieces of artwork.
Area artists donated various forms of paintings, pottery, sculpture, jewelry, and photographs for the auction. Proceeds from Art With Heart will benefit United Family Services’ domestic violence programs.
Event organizers estimate that the Feb. 7 event grossed $141,000. Last year, the auction grossed $138,000 for the agency.
“One of the great things about this event is people have the opportunity to purchase great art and help provide critical funds needed to keep victims of violence and their children safe in Charlotte-Mecklenburg,” said Kelly Forney, co-director of UFS’ Domestic Violence program.
Art With Heart is an annual auction that began in 2000 when a group of local women decided to combine their extensive resources to plan a fun and educational event to benefit UFS in launching programs for victims of domestic violence.
